Punjab Culture Day celebrated with enthusiasm

MULTAN: The South Punjab Secretariat departments and district and divisional administrations celebrated the Punjabi Culture Day with full protocol and performed their official work by wearing Punjabi turbans and Seraiki Ajraks under the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz here on Monday.

South Punjab Special Secretary for Health and Population Department Muhammad Shahbaz Hussain said that Punjab, the land of five rivers, was very rich in cultural terms and the culture of Punjab was full of colours of the ages. He expressed these views while talking to the participants of a special ceremony organised at his office on the Punjab Cultural Day. He said that remembering and nurturing culture was the way of living nations. The colours of Punjabi culture were an example in terms of their attractiveness, beauty and decoration.

Deputy Secretaries Sheikh Muhammad Tahir, Sajjad Hasnain, South Punjab Health Services Director General Dr Syed Ali Mehdi and other officers and employees participated in the ceremony. The officers and employees wore traditional turbans at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, on the Punjab Culture Day, aroma of traditions and civilisations were prominent at the Commissioner Office Multan. Officers performed official duties in cultural turbans and Seraiki Ajraks. Commissioner Amir Karim Khan performed official duty while wearing traditional turban while the DC and other officers also wore traditional turbans.

Commissioner Amir Karim Khan said that the Punjab Culture Day was not just a day but it was a day of recognition of our thousands of years of civilisation, traditions and living culture.

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad celebrated the Punjab Culture Day meant to promote our rich traditions among the young generation and to glorify the culture.

The event arranged under the auspice of the Senior Tutor Office brought the colourful performance of the students featuring poetry of Sufi poets Punjabi, Heer Waris Shah, Bhangra and others which remained a centre of attention for the audience.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan read out the message of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali. In his message, Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that Punjab, the land of five rivers, had a great heritage. “Its identity was love for the soil and the brotherhood. The University was not only associated with teaching but also have a strong ties with the real heirs of Punjabi culture, the farmers. Their hard work, simplicity and love for the land are the real identity of Punjab”, he added.

Principal Officer Student Affairs Dr Muhammad Riaz called for promoting the great traditions and culture of Punjab among the young generation. He said that the University was considered the custodian of agriculture and rural culture.

Senior Tutor Dr Shaukat Ali said that Heer Waris Shah Chair had been established so that the pearls of wisdom can be disseminated. He said that the university was known for marvelous contribution for the agriculture and rural development.

Meanwhile, a vibrant celebration of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage took place at Government College University Faisalabad on the Punjab Culture Day. The university campus was alive with colors, energy, and tradition as students dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, colourful turbans, dupattas and Ajraks, participated enthusiastically in the festivities.

The event featured folk music, Bhangra performances and a beautiful showcase of Punjab’s timeless cultural identity. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam in his message on the occasion stated that Punjab’s culture was a beautiful blend of love, harmony, tolerance and peace. This day not only reminds us of our cultural roots but also offers an opportunity to connect the younger generation with their heritage. He further said that Government College University Faisalabad plays a vital role in preserving and promoting this cultural legacy at national and international platforms.

JHANG: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, various functions were organised to celebrate the Punjab Culture Day here on Monday.

In this connection, a function was held at the Government Postgraduate College Adhiwal to promote cultural activities on the Punjab Culture Day. Similar events were also organised in other schools and colleges across the district.
