LAHORE:Mela Charaghan’s one day was dedicated to women on Monday. The day featured enriching sessions on Sufi poetry, Punjabi literature, and the legacy of Shah Hussain. Scholars, including Dr Shabnam Ishaq, Dr Kaliyan Singh Kaliyan, Dr Zaheer Hassan Wattoo, and Dr Faisal Jappa explored the depth of Shah Hussain’s poetry.

A combined session by Dr Shabnam Ishaq and Dr Hina Khan titled "Churhi Haan Darbar Di" delved into Sufi creative expression. A Punjabi Mushaira was also arranged. The day concluded at literary sessions with Prof Saeed Ahmed’s session on Sufi themes of love, unity, and humanism.

Assistant Director Talha Shafiq highlighted the significance of dedicating the day to women, emphasising Mela Charaghan’s role as both a cultural and spiritual celebration of Lahore’s rich heritage.

On the first terrace, Sufi and folk music remained at the heart of the festivities. Liaqat Parkvi and the Chaap performers from Mast Qalandar Dera kept the traditional spirit alive, while Taj Mastani and Shaukat Faqir infused the space with a deeply spiritual atmosphere through their soulful performances.

The second terrace was vibrant with nonstop artistic expressions by performers linked to the shrines of Khawaja Ghulam Farid and Madho Lal Hussain. The Mehtabi Terrace once again hosted the powerful Raqs-e-Darwaish, considered the spiritual soul of the event.
