LDA, MCL conduct anti-encroachment operations

LAHORE:Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) carried out massive anti-encroachment operations in their respective jurisdictions here on Monday.

LDA enforcement squad, in its operation, demolished encroachments built outside houses i.e. sheds, huts, fences and paved encroachments in L and N blocks. LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited the area and monitor the operation.

Speaking on the occasion, LDA DG said that the citizens should remove encroachments, sheds and huts on their own. He gave instructions LDA enforcement squad to conduct operations in Sabzazaar and other blocks of Allama Iqbal Town in the next few days.

All blocks should be cleared in a phased manner, LDA DG said adding that LDA will conduct an operation against encroachments in all its schemes in phases and this operation will be continued on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, MCL, on the instructions of Administrator Lahore Syed Musa Raza, also conducted a mega operation against encroachment mafia at important places under the supervision of MCL CO Shahid Abbas Kathia during which 21 properties were demolished.

Anti-encroachment operations were carried out in Shah Alam Market and its surroundings, Kathia said, adding that encroachments were demolished with the help of heavy machinery. He said that all kinds of encroachments, including temporary and permanent were being eliminated during the operation. He said that any kind of illegal construction was not acceptable at all.
