ATC awards interim bail to Omar Ayub in nine cases
Court expressed its displeasure as IO failed to present case record during hearing of pre-arrest bail applications
ISLAMABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain Thursday confirmed interim bail of opposition leader Omar Ayub in 9 cases, registered regarding October-4 protest.
The court expressed its displeasure that the investigation officer failed to present the case record during the hearing of pre-arrest bail applications on Wednesday. The judge remarked, “Are they made of iron? The record never arrives. When there’s no excuse for the delay, it’s stated that they [police] are on a protest duty. If the record doesn’t arrive within 20 minutes, I will decide on the bail applications.”
The prosecutor informed the court that the investigation officer had brought the record, but it had still not reached the courtroom.
In response, the judge asked, “Do they think they are Nawabs? I am not their subordinate. I am not an employee of the IG or DIG.”
