SC adjourns hearing on Qazi Isa’s restraint from Imran cases
Five-member constitutional bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard matter
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Wednesday adjourned for date in-office a case related to an order passed by the apex court, restraining former judge Qazi Faez Isa from hearing cases involving former prime minister Imran Khan.
A five-member constitutional bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard the matter.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar observed that the court had restrained Justice (retd) Qazi Faez Isa from hearing cases involving Imran Khan. He questioned as to whether the instant matter had not become infructuous after Justice Isa retired. He asked if it was a live issue after the retirement of Justice Isa.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail remarked that the issue had to be resolved for the future as well.
“Where is Hamid Khan,” Justice Mandokhail asked at which Hamid’s assistant informed the court that he was unavailable as he was busy in a Senate committee’s meeting.
Later, the court adjourned the matter for date-in-office. Similarly, the same bench also adjourned the matter regarding appointment of judges to Gilgit-Baltistan judiciary due to non-availability of Hamid Khan.
On February 12, 2021, a five-member SC bench, headed by former chief justice Gulzar Ahmed, had restrained Justice Qazi Faez Isa from hearing cases involving Imran Khan.
