DSP among two cops injured as mob sets fire to food chain’s outlet in Mirpurkhas
Protesters began pelting stones at police, resulting in injuries to DSP Aslam Jagirani and one police constable
HYDERABAAD: Following a protest, an enraged crowd set fire to an international food chain’s outlet, which opened in Mirpurkhas last year.
Soon, SSP Sameer Ahmed Channa arrived at the scene with a large contingent of police personnel. He told the angry protesters to disperse. However, when they refused to leave, the police resorted to a baton charge, tear gas shelling, and aerial firing.
In response, protesters began pelting stones at the police, resulting in injuries to DSP Aslam Jagirani and one police constable.
The confrontation continued for several hours. Eventually, the protesters dispersed.
SSP Sameer Ahmed Chana, talking to the media, strongly condemned the incident, and vowed that those who set fire to the restaurant would not be spared in any circumstances.
He said raids would be conducted on their homes, and they would be arrested. He said the police had obtained footage of the incident. Sources said that more than 10 protesters had been detained by police.
