KARACHI: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain said he is targeting strong performances in the upcoming Pakistan Super League to earn a recall to the national team for this year’s Asia Cup.

In an interview with Geo News, the 25-year-old, who plays for Multan Sultans, emphasized the league’s importance for emerging talent while speaking during his team’s training session in Karachi ahead of the 10th PSL season, which begins Feb. 11.

“My goal is simple — perform as well as I can in the PSL and make my case for Asia Cup selection,” Hasnain said. The right-arm speedster, capable of bowling over 140 kph, has been in and out of the national team since his debut in 2019.

Rather than targeting specific batters, Hasnain said he is focused on consistency to help Multan Sultans reclaim the title they last won in 2021. The squad completed an intensive four-day camp in Multan before shifting to Karachi for final preparations.

“The preparations have been thorough — we’ve got a balanced squad, and I’m confident we can deliver strong results,” he said. Hasnain, who previously played for Quetta Gladiators, highlighted the PSL’s role in player development. “For young players, it’s a gateway to international cricket — I’m proof of that. For experienced players, it’s a chance to stage comebacks.”

He also praised Karachi’s passionate fans, recalling how their support has lifted the team in crucial matches. Multan Sultans begin their campaign against former champions Karachi Kings on April 12 in Karachi.
