Man killed, son injured in clash between Bugti tribesmen
KARACHI : A man was killed and his son injured during a clash between members of the Bugti tribe in the Steel Town area of Karachi while six others including, a traffic police officer, sustained injuries in separate incidents of robbery resistance and shootings across the city.
According to police, the clash among Bugti tribe members occurred in Salar Goth, Steel Town.
Upon receiving the information, police reached the scene and transferred the deceased man and his injured son to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
The deceased man was identified as 45-year-old Abdul Sattar, son of Ghaus Bakhsh. His injured son was identified as Azmatullah.
Police said the incident was a result of personal enmity between two groups belonging to the Bugti tribe. During the clash, some people resorted to gunfire, resulting in the casualties.
The assailants managed to escape after the shooting. Police found six spent bullet casings from the crime scene, which have been sent to the forensic division for examination. Further investigations are under way.
In another incident, a traffic police officer named Arif was shot and injured at the Sindhi Hotel near the Qadri Masjid in the Bilal Colony are of New Karachi.
He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to SHO IsrarAfridi, the motive behind the shooting was yet to be determined.
The officer was on his way to duty on a motorcycle when four suspects riding three motorcycles signalled him to stop.
