Tributes paid to Bhutto on death anniversary
MULTAN: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has paid rich tributes to former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on his 46th death anniversary, recognising his sacrifice for the downtrodden classes of the country and his unwavering commitment to his principles in the face of dictatorship.
Senior PPP leader and former President Multan High Court Bar Association Habibullah Shakir stated that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed, by embracing martyrdom, had awakened the consciousness of the oppressed people of Pakistan. He asserted that Ziaul Haq and the judiciary of that era believed they had destroyed Bhutto’s ideology by his execution but Bhutto’s ideology resurfaced in the form of Bibi Shaheed. Shakir emphasised that Bhutto’s ideology cannot be eradicated through force and violence because it is protected by the oppressed people of Pakistan themselves.
Addressing a ceremony at the District Bar Association here, Habibullah Shakir commented on current economic issues, stating that the recent reduction in electricity prices is insufficient and should be decreased further. He pointed out that while petroleum product prices are declining globally, they have not been reduced in Pakistan, urging the government to address this as well.
