Cattle farm owner murdered, buried in his own farm
The owner of a cattle farm was murdered and buried inside his pen in the Bhains Colony area, it was revealed on Thursday.
The victim had recently sold some livestock and was carrying a large sum of money, which, along with some of his employees at the pen, is now missing. Seventy-year-old Haji Ikhlaq Ahmed Qureshi, the owner of a cattle pen within the jurisdiction of the Sukhan police, was murdered and buried in his own pen.
The Sukhan police were informed about his disappearance through the 15 police helpline three days later, after which they excavated the site and recovered the victim’s body. According to SHO Sukhan Adeel Shah, the victim had been missing for three days, but the police were not immediately informed about his disappearance. Three days later, his accountant Abdul Hameed and driver Irfan Gujjar reported the matter to the Madadgar 15 police helpline.
Upon arrival at the cattle farm near Bilal Masjid on Bhains Colony Road No 7, police noticed a foul smell. Excavation was carried out, and the three-day-old body of the victim was recovered and sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
The victim lived alone at the cattle pen while his family resided in Khanewal, Punjab. Reports indicate that he had recently sold some livestock and was carrying a large sum of money, which is now missing, along with some workers of the cattle pen. The missing workers include Zahid, Noor, and Irfan, who are reported to be brothers. It is suspected that the workers killed Qureshi, buried his body and fled the scene.
A post-mortem examination would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The SHO stated that the police have launched a search for the missing workers. Further investigations are under way.
