Three burqa-clad harassers held
LAHORE:Lahore Police have launched a crackdown on harassers and troublemakers of women in markets and shopping malls in a bid to ensure peaceful atmosphere during Eid shopping.
In this connection, Haloki police post arrested three burqa-clad individuals, who were found harassing women. The police detained accused Ali, Zohaib, and Faizan from Valencia Town Market when they were harassing families.
Meanwhile, Nawan Kot police arrested a suspect involved in buying and selling kite-flying materials. On a tip-off accused Ahmad was detained from the Shahabuddin Tube Well Chowk in Jhuggian. The police recovered 100 spools and 10 rolls of kite string from his possession. Iqbal Town police arrested accused Shujaat Khokhar and Ali Raza who were promoting a gangster culture on social media. Accused Shujaat had formed a group called “302 of Bhikewal Pind” and was recently seen leading a rally with private college students and was seen firing in the air in a video. He, along with his accomplices, was creating fear and panic among the public.
Badami Bagh’s Joseph Colony police post, acting on a tip-off, arrested two members of a motorcycle thief gang. The police recovered 5 motorcycles, 3 mobile phones, Rs10,000 and illegal weapons from accused identified as Ahmed alias Khushka and his accomplice Asad Khalil. The gang used to commit thefts in markets, bazaars, and crowded areas, later selling the stolen motorcycles in parts. Chuhng police arrested a drug peddler identified as Latif and recovered 40 litre liquor from his possession.
Guldasht Town Police arrested accused Hamidullah and Shabbir and recovered 300 gram crystal meth (ice), a pistol, and bullets from them. Dolphin Squad arrested suspects identified as Ameen, Parvez, and Noman and recovered 7 bottle imported liquor and 100 gram crystal meth from their possession.
542 wheelie-doers held
The Lahore Police have arrested 542 wheelie-doers in three months. According to a Lahore Police spokesman, the police also booked 460 people for their involvement in different irregularities. He said the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) has ordered strict action against wheelie–doers and special checkpoints had been established in this regard.
