UAE thwarts over 600 cyberattacks targeting public, private sectors

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: National cybersecurity systems have successfully thwarted cyberattacks targeting several strategic sectors in both public and private entities, the UAE Cyber Security Council confirmed late on Monday.
The authority highlighted that emergency cybersecurity systems, in collaboration with relevant authorities, detected and 634 cyberattacks aimed at breaching vital national systems, including data leaks targeting critical sectors.
Dr Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, chairman of the UAE Cyber Security Council, confirmed that the threat actor “rose87168” had claimed responsibility for compromising the Oracle Cloud platform, resulting in the leak of approximately 6 million customer records globally.
