Salman for joint role in improving healthcare system
LAHORE:On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a meeting was held at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Ashfaq-ur-Rehman and Additional Secretary Dr Waheed Asghar from the Department of Specialised Health Care and Medical Education.
During the meeting, hospital management, queue management and patient care, among other issues, were reviewed. Khawaja Salman Rafique said on this occasion that all stakeholders would have to play their role in the improvement of the health system. The chief minister has directed the immediate payment of dues of government hospitals. Free medicines are being ensured in government hospitals. Instructions have been given to display lists of medicines, activate complaint counters and arrange chairs and benches for the attendants in the government hospitals.
Asia’s largest Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is being built in Lahore. State-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology are being built in Lahore and Sargodha. Chief Minister’s children’s heart surgery programme, dialysis programme and transplant programme are flagship initiatives in the health sector. Out of 58 tertiary care hospitals, 16 are running a queue management system with the help of PITB.
