Punjab govt decides to continue wheat release policy

LAHORE: Punjab government has decided to continue wheat release policy. According to official sources here on Saturday, in line with the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Price Control and Commodities Management department would release more wheat from government warehouses.
Punjab Food Director General Shoaib Jadoon said, “Official wheat release rate is set as Rs 2,900 per maund. “A notification in this regard had been issued by the secretary of Price Control and Commodities Management department.
Shoaib Jadoon said that Punjab cabinet had given a permission to release 1.2 million metric tonnes of wheat initially.
He further said that Punjab Food department had sold 1.2 million metric tonnes of wheat till
now.
