ALPURI: A veteran politician and social personality of Shangla district, Haji Zameen Gul, passed away here on Thursday.
Known for his unwavering dedication to public service, Zameen Gul began his political journey with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He served as a member of the joint district council of Shangla-Swat and Buner, playing a crucial role in numerous developmental and welfare projects.
His contributions, including the reconstruction of Government Degree College Alpuri and countless other initiatives, have left an indelible mark on the region. After being elected as a district council member in the 1979 local government elections, he focused extensively on public welfare projects.
Zameen Gul was initially aligned with Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao in the PPP but later developed political differences, eventually becoming one of Sherpao’s closest allies for over four decades. In 2018, just before the general elections.
