IPOR survey: 60% say Maryam’s performance better than other CMs’
53% of participants say there was improvement in public facilities; 35% say there was no difference between current and Buzdar govt
LAHORE: More than half of citizens of Punjab have called performance of CM Maryam Nawaz better than that of PTI’s Buzdar government.
This was revealed in a survey conducted by Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) in which more than 6,000 citizens from 36 districts of the province participated. The survey was conducted between February 3 and 18, 2025.
On the question of whether government services and public facilities have improved in Punjab compared to the previous PTI government, 53pc described performance of CM Maryam Nawaz as better than the Buzdar government. Thirty-five percent said there was no difference between the two, while 5pc said it was worse than Buzdar’s. Seven percent did not answer this question.
Of the 53pc of citizens who said there was improvement in public facilities, were asked in which sector there had been improvement. Twenty-two percent mentioned Clean Punjab project, 14pc improvement in roads, 12pc education system, 11pc governance, 6pc anti-encroachment campaign, 6pc health sector, 5pc controlling inflation, 4pc provision of interest-free loans, while 3pc mentioned improvement in the province’s infrastructure. Seventeen percent gave other answers.
IPOR asked five percent of citizens dissatisfied to identify the problems. Twenty-eight percent mentioned inflation, 23pc poor governance, 14pc unemployment, 10pc increasing poverty, 5pc education system and 4pc mentioned rising electricity bills as the reasons for the problems in the province.
The survey further asked the participants how they compare performance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to that of chief ministers of other provinces.
Sixty percent said Punjab CM Maryam’s performance was better than that of CMs of other provinces. Sixteen percent said her performance was worse than that of other CMs, while 21pc said there was no difference. Three percent did not answer this question.
