Naqvi reviews Youm-e-Ali procession arrangements
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi chaired a meeting at his office on Thursday to review the arrangements for the main Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession. The officials in attendance decided to provide foolproof security to participants of the procession.
The meeting decided that the relevant authorities would ensure exceptional cleanliness along the route of the procession, instal street lights near Imambargahs, and conduct road repairs and sewage maintenance. They also pledged to provide uninterrupted electricity supply.
Naqvi directed the deputy commissioners to coordinate with the relevant agencies, organisers and religious leaders to implement security measures and ensure the necessary facilities. The DCs briefed the meeting on the ongoing preparations, highlighting coordination efforts with various agencies.
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab made the assurance that the city administration would ensure cleanliness, street lights and water supply at Imambargahs, along the route of the main procession and at Majalis venues.
Wahab stressed on ensuring a coordinated response to address every sewage complaint. He also instructed the relevant officers to work closely with the organisers of the event. He asked the organisers and religious leaders to contact him directly for the resolution of any issue, or contact the Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation’s helpline 1334 or the commissioner office helpline 1299 for prompt assistance.
City police chief Addl IG Javed Alam Odho provided a detailed briefing on the security arrangements to be made for the procession. Jafaria Alliance Pakistan General Secretary Shabar Raza and other organisers presented their proposals to improve the arrangements to be made along the procession route.
