MARDAN: The tussle between Mayor Himayatullah Mayar and TMA Employees Union comes to its end after an agreement between the both parties.

Majority of the people of Mardan appreciated the agreement between the Himayatullah Mayar and TMA Employees Union but they raised questions over the allegations of corruption

they had leveled against

each other.

It may be noted that a tussle erupted between City Mayor Himayatullah Mayar and the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Employees Union over allegations of corruption and negligence.

Both sides had exchanged serious accusations over the past few days, using social media platforms to voice their concerns. The dispute intensified after a heated exchange took

place at the TMA office between the mayor and the employees.

Sources said that the TMA employees staged a protest, locking the offices in response to the allegations.

Meanwhile, Mayor Himayatullah Mayar, supported by local government representatives and Awami National Party (ANP) workers, defended his stance against the accusations. The tussle stemmed from the mayor’s allegations of negligence

and financial irregularities in TMA contracts for the

fiscal year.

In retaliation, the TMA Employees Union had accused the mayor of mismanagement. However to defuse the tension, a Jirga comprising local elders and government representatives, including Imran Maduri and Abdul Aziz, was formed to mediate between the two sides.
