KPT signs agreement with KSEW for construction of mooring boats
KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has signed an agreement with Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KSEW) for the construction and supply of two mooring boats.
According to a statement issued by KPT on Friday, the agreement is in line with the directives of the prime minister of Pakistan, conveyed through the task force, to meet the craft requirements of all three ports in the country through Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works.
The contract was signed by Chairperson of KPT Rear Admiral Habib-ur-Rehman HI(M) and Managing Director of KSEW Rear Admiral Salman Ilyas HI(M).
The mooring boats will assist KPT in berthing and unberthing operations, preventing vessel collisions, towing and escorting ships, line handling, supporting cargo activities and conducting spill response and waste management operations.
