By-poll for Umerkot NA seat on April 17
Seat fell vacant following death of veteran PPP lawmaker Nawab Yousaf Talpur
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday released the schedule for by-election to fill the National Assembly constituency, NA-213, Umerkot, fixing polling for April 17.
The seat had fallen vacant following the death of veteran Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Nawab Yousaf Talpur.
As per the schedule, public notice will be issued by the returning officer concerned on March 3, while nomination papers of contesting candidates will be accepted from March 4 to 6. The names of candidates will be published on March 7 and scrutiny of papers would be complerted by March 13.
Appeals against decisions of the returning officer can be filed till March 17, which would be decided till March 24. The revised list of the candidates will be published on March 25 and last date for submitting withdrawals is March 26.
Election symbols will be issued on March 27 and polling will be held on April 17.
Deputy Commissioner Umerkot Naveed Rehman Larik has been appointed as DRO and Assistant Commissioner Rajab Sathio as returning officer.
It added no government or authority shall post or transfer any officer in the district till the publication of the name of returned candidate.
