CJP visits SOS Village in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi on Saturday visited SOS Village in Hayatabad, Peshawar.
According to a press release issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, his wife accompanied him on this occasion.
Upon arrival, the chief justice was briefed about the institution by SOS Village Director Kokab Batool Qureshi.
The chief justice and his wife met the children and took an interest in their daily activities. They had lunch with them and encouraged both their academic and extracurricular pursuits.
Addressing the children, the chief justice and his wife advised the children to excel in education so that they could contribute positively not only to their own lives but also to society. The chief justice commended the SOS Village director for her efforts in maintaining discipline, high educational standards, and excellent care at the institution.
He assured the children and the administration of SOS Village that he would always be available whenever they needed support.
It is noteworthy that the chief justice’s late father, Umar Khan Afridi, was a lifelong patron of the SOS Village Peshawar.
SOS Village Peshawar is a charitable institution that operates through private donations.
Currently, around 121 children, ranging in age up to 25-26 years, reside there. The institution provided shelter to orphans and destitute children, offering them quality education up to the master’s level, technical skills, and even assistance with marriage arrangements.
