NSIC Sargodha to be functional by June 30
LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired a meeting regarding Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education.
During the meeting, the appointment of CEO at Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha, pediatric emergency, selection committee and recruitment measures for OPD were reviewed in detail. The selection committee for the election of the Board of Governors of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha will be approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The head of the selection committee will be Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. The minister said that the OPD of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha would be opened to the general public by June 30, 2025.
During the meeting, the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department was directed to start the recruitment process for the CEO and OPD of NSIC Sargodha. Salman Rafique said that the Punjab government was completing historic projects in the health sector at a rapid pace.
The Punjab government is establishing Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology in Lahore and Sargodha to provide better treatment facilities to the people at their doorsteps. The Pediatric Emergency Department will also be fully functional in NSIC Sargodha. Recruitment will be made under the recruitment policy of the hospital.
Nawaz Sharif is going to recruit the best head, professors and other staff in the Institute of Cardiology Sargodha. The minister said that the head of the NSIC Sargodha will not be allowed private practice. Currently, two professors of cardiology, two professors of surgery and one professor of medicine will be appointed for the facility.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood, Dr Muhammad Adnan Khan, Dr Farqad Alamgir, Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Vice Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Masood Sadiq and others.
Meanwhile, another meeting was held regarding Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Lahore under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique at the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education. In the meeting, important decisions were taken regarding Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research.
The minister, while expressing his views, said that Phase 1 of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Lahore will consist of 615 beds. It will consist of a 280-bed main hospital building, a 150-bed cancer care clinic, a 75-bed hospice and palliative care facility and a 110-bed bone marrow transplant centre.
