The Chief Minister Punjab Green Credit Programme (CMPGCP), under the leadership of the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EPCCD), successfully conducted an awareness session.
The session provided an in-depth overview of the initiative, emphasising its role in promoting environmental sustainability and incentivising eco-friendly practices. Teachers, students and environmental advocates participated in the session with keen interest, engaging in discussions about the registration process on portal https://greencredit.punjab.gov.pk/ earning Green Credits and the programme’s broader impact on climate adaptation and mitigation. The session highlighted the Green Credit Programme and its role in fostering a culture of sustainability. Discussions covered the areas of interventions for earning of ‘Green Credits’ that includes air quality improvement, water conservation, land restoration, waste management, and biodiversity conservation. Experts from CMPGCP, including Nature Based Carbon Specialist Tehmina Kiran, led the foundation for understanding the project’s vision and impact. Environmental Innovations Manager Tahir Masood explained ‘Green Credits’, how they can be earned and their importance in shaping a sustainable future.
Full Stack Developer Hafiz Arsalan conducted a practical demonstration on the registration process. Officials from the CM Punjab Green Credit Programme emphasised the transformative potential of the Green Credit Programme in mobilising collective action against climate change.
