Another migrants’ boat carrying Pakistanis capsizes near Libya
According to news agency, 10 bodies have been recovered after migrant boat sank near Marsa Dila Port
ISLAMABAD: Another boat of migrants capsized near Libyan Port, Marsa Dila, 65 passengers were aboard, said Anti-Human Smuggling wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), quoting international news agencies, Monday.
According to the Pakistani Embassy, a boat carrying 65 passengers capsized near Marsa Dila Port. The 10 bodies have been recovered so far, the Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli said. This is forth incident of migrants’ boat capsize during the last two years. The Establishment Div. removed DG FIA from his post, while over 40 officials were dismissed from services for their involvement in supporting and facilitating the human smuggling mafia.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated that a team from the Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli has been dispatched to Zawiya Hospital to assist local authorities. Additionally, the Crisis Management Unit has been activated to gather details of the affected Pakistani nationals involved in the boat accident.
According to an international news agency, 10 bodies have been recovered after the migrant boat sank near Marsa Dila Port.
The Libyan Red Crescent reported that the bodies were retrieved on Thursday in the city of Zawiya and handed over to local authorities for legal procedures. Libyan media sources stated that the Red Crescent has not yet disclosed the cause of the boat’s sinking or the identities of the passengers.
Meanwhile, according to a statement from the Foreign Office, the Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli has immediately dispatched a team to Zawiya hospital to assist the local authorities in identification of the deceased. The Embassy is also trying to ascertain further details of the Pakistani victims.
