Cop assaults beggar woman, injures man
LAHORE:A policeman was caught red-handed while allegedly assaulting a beggar woman in the limits of Manawan police.
The accused, identified as Amjad, attempted to flee the scene and, in the process, shot at and injured a citizen, Sajid. According to reports, Sajid sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was shifted to a hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
A case was registered against Amjad on Sajid’s complaint. The accused policemen was posted at Shafiqabad police station. Meanwhile, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations has taken notice of the incident and ordered departmental action against him.
Woman found dead in her Shiblee Town residence
A 28-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at her residence in Shiblee Town, Bund Road, within the jurisdiction of the Sanda police station. The victim, identified as Reda, was discovered by rescuers after they were alerted to the incident.
On arrival, emergency responders found her body with a deep wound to the throat. According to initial investigations, circumstantial evidence suggests that the woman was murdered, and the perpetrator managed to flee the scene undetected. Body was shifted to the morgue.
