Jail officer suspended over inefficiency
LAHORE:Upholding meritocracy in line with the Punjab chief minister’s vision, the Punjab Home Department has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Executive District Jail Bhakkar, Tariq Mehmood, due to negligence, incompetence, and mismanagement.
According to the Punjab Home Department’s orders, the officer has been directed to report to the Inspectorate of Prisons. A spokesperson for the department stated that under the instructions of the Home Secretary, Additional Secretary for Prisons, Asim Raza, is leading an inspection team across various jails in the province. The department has issued standard operating procedures for prison management and is reviewing compliance through ongoing inspections. Following reports of poor administration at Bhakkar Jail, the home department took immediate action, ordering the officer’s suspension and reassignment.
