JI leader blames PPP govt for 85 fatal accidents in 35 days
Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Monem Zafar has condemned the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) government in Sindh and the traffic police over heavy loss of lives in road accidents.
Addressing the media after participating in the funeral prayers for the couple who were killed in one of the fatal road accidents on Wednesday, he raised concern over 85 fatal accidents in the city during the past 35 days.
He raised question marks over the performance of the traffic police in the city and asked how it was possible that dumper trucks were roaming in the city during the daytime, whereas the movement of such vehicles was strictly limited to the late hours.
“Where is the government, the administration and the police?” he asked while highlighting that the government and traffic police had totally failed to carry out the orders passed by a court of law for the movement of dumper trucks in the city.
The traffic police seem busy in making money by harassing motorists on the roads of Karachi, instead of regulating the traffic, the JI leader said. Zafar remarked that the PPP has been enjoying rule in all available forums of government and so, it was directly responsible for the casualties in traffic accidents.
