ISLAMABAD: Former chief minister Punjab Najam Sethi on Monday clarified that during the last 10 days of his tenure, once the general elections 2013 result was announced, the top bureaucracy of the provincial government started reporting to Model Town and Raiwind.
Once the cross-examination of Mr Sethi ended, he himself mentioned that he was expecting that he would be examined on the mega rigging allegation of ‘35 punctures’. However, none of the counsel representing various political parties in the Judicial Commission had asked him anything about the 35 punctures.
He also mentioned that he had brought with him a few important documents, which he was ready to submit to the commission, but nobody had asked any question about rigging.Political analysts know that the budget was to be announced in June 2013 and it was not an unusual thing that bureaucracy was reporting to the party leadership that was to assume charge.
After getting majority in the general elections 2013, it was clear that the PML-N had to make the government in Punjab and at the Centre. The winning party had to announce the fiscal budget soon after taking oath and, therefore, it was quite natural that bureaucracy had started reporting to the top PML-N leadership as normally the budget process takes a few months.
NNI adds: Meanwhile, in a twitter message, Sethi said: “PTI’s Mr Pirzada did not ask even one question from me in Judicial Comm today regarding 35 pentures (sic)! Why? Because it is a big lie,” he said in a message posted on twitter.“Now those who levelled this malicious allegation against me must apologise in public or pay damages in court,” Sethi added.
