Retired teachers and employees of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology staged a protest demonstration at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday over the non-payment of pensions and dues.
The protesters were holding banners and placards on which slogans were written demanding payment of pensions and removal of Treasurer Danish Ehsan from his post. One banner stated that Vice Chancellor Dr Zahid Khan Shinwari was responsible as seven ex-teachers and employees had died waiting for the payment of their pensions.
Convener Retired Employees Committee Dr Tauseef Ahmed said that retired employees have been deprived of pensions for several months, and many of our colleagues have died due to lack of timely medical facilities.
