Cabinet okays additional cars for FBR
FBR receives approval of Economic Coordination Committee and Austerity Committee of Ministry of Finance for purchase of cars
ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the federal cabinet has granted permission to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to expand its fleet by purchasing 77 new vehicles, adding to the 1,010 cars already approved.
According to sources, the FBR has been given approval for the purchase of 77 new vehicles in addition to the 1,010 already sanctioned. The 1,100 new vehicles will be given to Grade 17 and Grade 18 officers. The entire purchase will cost over Rs6 billion. The FBR has received the approval of the Economic Coordination Committee and the Austerity Committee of the Ministry of Finance for the purchase, while the Vehicle Authorization Committee of the Cabinet Division has also granted approval.
The Senate Standing Committee on Finance had written to the FBR on January 13, objecting to the purchase of vehicles. The panel had also written to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and asked to suspend the purchase.
