KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is ramping up efforts to attract investment in the country’s mines and minerals sector, with the Health, Engineering, and Mineral Show (HEMS) scheduled to take place from April 17-19, 2025 in Lahore.

TDAP’s engineering and minerals division hosted an online meeting on January 16, bringing together key stakeholders from both the private and public sectors, including minerals exporters, mines owners and representatives from the Quetta and Lasbella Chambers of Commerce & Industry. The meeting also saw participation from the All Pakistan Mines & Minerals Association, the Marble & Granite Association of Pakistan, and investment boards from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The session, chaired by TDAP Director General Azhar Ali Dahar, aimed to promote HEMS 2025 and attract foreign investment in the country’s mining sector through trade and investment promotion initiatives. Dahar welcomed participants and sought feedback on hosting an exclusive mineral exhibition in Balochistan, discussing possible venues and dates.

TDAP Deputy Director Omer Bajwa presented the framework for HEMS 2025, focusing on the proposed minerals investment pavilion. He encouraged attendees to share details of potential buyers, investors and investment proposals for dissemination through Pakistan’s trade missions.

Participants responded positively. The CEO of Mohmand Dada Minerals commended TDAP’s initiative and pledged industry cooperation in identifying potential investors. A Quetta Chamber of Commerce member highlighted the potential and challenges of Balochistan’s mineral sector.

Fateh Shah, secretary general of the All Pakistan Mines and Minerals Association, assured full support for the event, while another member from the KP-Board of Investment and Trade suggested organising investment conferences within the Pavilion. Dahar endorsed the idea, proposing collaboration with the Geological Survey of Pakistan. The KP-BoIT further requested free stalls for gems and jewellery stakeholders, which TDAP pledged to consider.
