'Variety's executive editor Brent Lang admits Rob Reiner's death sent 'seismic shock'
Brent Lang, the executive editor of Variety, has paid a moving tribute to Rob Reiner after his tragic death.
The renowned American film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and political activist and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead at their residence in Los Angeles, California, on December 14, 2025.
Although their 33-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was alive, he was being questioned about the scary incident.
Lang conversed with CNN about the tragic passing of Rob and Michele and stated that their tragic passing sent a “seismic shock” through the entertainment community because of the outsized, decades-long impact the pair had on the industry.
“I mean, he’s almost the mayor of Hollywood,” the executive editor remarked, adding that the Misery director was “such an affable, genial person … warm and outgoing and beloved.”
According to Lang, Rob mesmerised audiences by creating magic in front of and behind the camera, which set him apart.
“You have to look at what he did as an actor in ‘All in the Family,’ which remains a seminal piece of television history,” he noted.
For those unaware, the latest development in Rob and Michele’s murder case is Nick has been arrested on suspicion of killing his parents and is in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, per the sources of TMZ.
Previously, PEOPLE magazine reported that the family members of Rob and Michele confirmed Nick murdered his parents.
