QUETTA: The traffic between Quetta and Karachi remained suspended on Sunday as a large number of people blocked the highway linking Sindh with Balochistan at Anjira area of Khuzdar district as a protest against arrest of people from Zehri area.
Security forces have arrested over a dozen people from Tehsil Zehri area in connection with armed militants attack at main bazaar who attacked the government buildings, including levies station, offices of the Nadra, municipal committee and a private bank.
The relatives of the arrested suspects and other people protested over their arrests and blocked the Quetta-Karachi highway at Anjira area. A large number of vehicles, including passengers’ coaches, trucks and other vehicles struck up at the both sides of the highway as the protestors put barricades and big boulders on the road.
They have also established a sit-in camp at the road and not allowed anyone to travel. They demanded that all arrested people should be released and said that they would not call off their protest until acceptance of their demands.
