Inquiry report on DIG-SSP row finalised
Sources in Sindh Police tell committee had submitted its reports with different viewpoints in its conclusions
KARACHI: A high-level inquiry committee formed by the Sindh Inspector General of Police to probe last year’s serious rift between the Sukkur DIG and Ghotki SSP has pointed out shortcomings on both officers’ parts.
Three-member inquiry committee comprised of Additional Inspector General Imran Yaqoob Minhas and two DIGs Aamir Farooqi and Tanveer Alam Odho was formed by the Sindh IGP after serious differences and allegations of professional misconduct and wrongdoings were levelled against each other by two senior police officers, including former Sukkur deputy inspector general (DIG) Syed Pir Muhammad Shah and former Ghotki senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hafeez Bugti.
Well-placed sources in the Sindh Police told The News that the committee had submitted its reports with the different viewpoints in its conclusions.
The rift between the two police officers Sukkur DIG Syed Pir Muhammad Shah and Ghotki SSP Hafeez Rehman Bugti took place after the former MPA and head of Shar community Sardar Shahryar Khan Shar was attacked on October 14, 2024, in the riverine (katcha) area of the Ghotki district, resulting in the death of two individuals, close associates of Sardar Shar, Ali Muhammad Shar, and a hardened criminal Umar Shar, and injuries to Jan Mohammad Bugti and Sohrab Shar.
