ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Monday upheld the non-bailable arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in the 190 million-pound reference case. The court also issued a notice to her guarantor.
The judge directed the police to arrest Bushra Bibi and present her in court. However, the senior lawyer for the accused, Barrister Salman Safdar, assured the court that she would appear at the next hearing on December 5.
During the hearing, held at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan was presented in court, but Bushra Bibi was absent. Barrister Salman Safdar requested the court to grant three additional dates to submit statements under Section 342 for the accused and promised to ensure Bushra Bibi’s appearance. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) lawyers did not object to this assurance. The court accepted the assurance but upheld the arrest warrants, issuing a notice to her guarantor. It also adjourned the hearing until December 5. A petition for Bushra Bibi’s exemption from appearance was filed but was opposed by NAB lawyers. The NAB submitted a report on the implementation of the arrest warrants, stating that efforts were made to locate Bushra Bibi, but she was not found at her listed address.
