Proclaimed offender arrested
LAKKI MARWAT: The police on Friday claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender in an injured condition after an exchange of fire in Tajori area of Lakki Marwat district.
A police official said that DPO Rahim Hussain dispatched a police party to Kattukhel adda area after he received credible information about the presence of a bandits’ gang headed by a notorious proclaimed offender Waliullah with an intention of looting people.
He said that the policemen came under firing attack by the armed suspects when they reached the venue.“An effective response and retaliation of attack by police triggered a gun battle which continued for some time,” he maintained.
He said that when firing stopped the cops overpowered the ringleader, Waliullah, in an injured condition and seized arms and ammunition from him. “Other members of the gang fled the place taking the advantage of darkness,” he added.
Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer Bannu Imran Shahid has asked the people from all walks of life to play an effective role in eliminating the menace of drugs from society.This he said while speaking at a seminar held on the premises of the University of Science and Technology in Bannu.The seminar was arranged on the directives of the provincial government to prevent use of drugs and sensitise students about its hazardous effects.
