Bugti, Naqvi discuss initial report on railway station bombing
Meeting resolves to take decisive action with full force to crush the terrorist elements
QUETTA: A meeting jointly chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday pledged to intensify the fight against terrorism.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, reviewed the security situation in the province. An initial report on the suicide bombing at the Quetta Railway Station was presented, prayers were offered for the martyrs and a message of solidarity was extended to their families. The meeting resolved to take decisive action with full force to crush the terrorist elements, expanding intelligence-based operations to counter their malicious intentions.
They discussed the initial report on the suicide attack at the Quetta Railway Station, reviewed the overall security situation and examined measures taken to ensure public safety and order in Balochistan. Both leaders paid tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs, reaffirming their commitment that victory over terrorism would be the first and last option.
Addressing the meeting, Naqvi reiterated the federal government’s commitment to support Balochistan in combating terrorism, announcing plans to provide the province with prioritised resources. He highlighted the integration of training and capacity-building measures for police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Levies and other forces to strengthen their capabilities. He also expressed deep solidarity with the families of martyrs and praised their invaluable sacrifices. Naqvi assured CM Bugti of the federal government’s full support for peace in Balochistan and pledged to assist in eradicating terrorism from the province. The chief minister emphasized that all resources were being deployed to safeguard lives and property and to maintain law and order, adding that the handful of elements involved in destructive activities would be eliminated. CM Bugti said professional capabilities of Levies, Police and CTD would be strengthened and developed on modern lines, with the support of the federal government. He expressed the government’s resolve to defeat enemies who wanted to weaken Pakistan by furthering their nefarious designs. Bugti vowed to root out the menace of terrorism and ensure peace in the province.
Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Shahab Ali Shah, IG Police Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari and other high officials, including Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafqaat, also attended the meeting.
