Mob sets dumper on fire after motorcyclist knocked dead
A young motorcyclist tragically lost his life after being struck by a speeding dumper near Do-Miniute Chowrangi in North Karachi within the limits of the Bilal Colony police station on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Sufyan, was a resident of Khandu Goth in Nazimabad and worked in the Godhra area. He had stayed overnight at his brother’s home in Surjani Town's Taiser Town and was on his way to work on Monday morning when he was hit by a gravel-loaded dumper.
Following the accident, a mob caught the dumper driver, physically assaulted him, and set the dumper on fire. Upon receiving reports, police, rescue teams and fire brigade staffers arrived at the scene, where motorists were stuck in a massive traffic jam.
The fire brigade staffers quickly extinguished the fire on the dumper, and traffic police, with the help of a crane, moved the vehicle to the side of the road, restoring the traffic flow. The police have registered a case against the driver, and the body of the deceased was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
