Shaheens camp for T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup from 11th
LAHORE: Mohammad Haris will lead Pakistan Shaheens in the upcoming ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, set to commence in Oman on October 18.
Before their departure, the squad will undergo a preparatory camp at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi from October 11 to 15. A mix of experienced and promising young talent will represent Pakistan Shaheens. Notable inclusions include Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Yasir Khan, and Zaman Khan, all of whom are eager to make their mark on the international stage. Abdul Samad, in particular, impressed in the recently concluded Bahria Town Champions One-Day Cup, showcasing his aggressive batting style.
The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups, with all matches taking place at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. Pakistan Shaheens have been drawn into Group B alongside India ‘A’, Oman, and the UAE.
Haris and his team will kick off their campaign against last year’s finalists, India ‘A’, on October 19. They will then face hosts Oman on October 21 before concluding their group stage matches against the UAE on October 23.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for October 25. The tournament will culminate with the final on October 27. Usman Wahla, PCB Director – International, expressed his confidence in the Pakistan Shaheens squad and emphasised the importance of such tournaments in fostering player development. “We are excited to see our emerging talent showcase their skills at the ACC Emerging Teams T20 Asia Cup,” he stated. “Initiatives like these are crucial for providing young players with valuable experience and opportunities to grow.”
