KWSC signs agreement for Hub canal’s construction
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Engineer Syed Salah signed an Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) agreement on Thursday for the construction of a new Hub canal.
The signing ceremony was held at the MD Secretariat in Karsaz and was attended by Director of Wah Construction Limited Shoaib Shafiq, Colonel Sabahuddin Chaudhry, 3G Consultant Sultan Dogar, Project Director Hub Canal Sikandar Ali, and Chief Engineer Sewerage Syed Sardar Shah.
According to a KWSC spokesperson, the project would involve both the construction of a new Hub Canal and the restoration of the existing one. Additionally, the Hub Pumping Station, rising main, and the Hub Filter Plant would be upgraded from their current capacity of 80 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) to 100 MGD. With a fixed cost of Rs12.76 billion, the project was expected to be completed within a year. Upon completion, it would significantly enhance the water supply to Karachi, particularly benefiting the western district and Keamari.
