Chaos at Jauhar Chowrangi as mall opening draws large crowd

A chaotic situation occurred over the inauguration of a new shopping mall near Gulistan-e-Jauhar’s Rabia City on Friday evening, which led to a huge traffic mess and disturbance in the area.

Officials said the meg mall had announced its opening with big sale discounts on garments and other products. At this, a large number of people came to benefit from the sales. Soon after the opening took place, a rush of people already gathered outside the gates and stormed into the mall. Seeing this, the guards on duty were told to close the gates to control the rush.

In the meantime, some miscreants carrying sticks and stones attacked the main entrance to the mall and vandalised it. A heavy traffic jam in the vicinity of Rabia City occurred due to disturbance and long queues of vehicles were witnessed.

The traffic police present at the spot tried to restore the traffic flow. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation controlled. SSP Farrukh Raza of District East said a rush of people was witnessed around the mega mall near Jauhar Chowrangi, and media sources reported that a large number of people were present in front of the new mall.

After the closure of the mall, some miscreants threw stones. The police responded and the SHO of Sharea Faisal along with his staff brought the crowd under control. More cops have been deployed at the place to keep the situation under control.
