New benches in five Punjab divisions considered
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has decided to send recommendations to the relevant departments for raising the strength of judges in the LHC from 60 to 100 under Article 192 of the 1973 Constitution.A meeting of the administrative committee of the Lahore High Court was held here on Monday in this regard with LHC Chief Justice Ijazul Hassan in the chair and concluded that in the wake of the rising number of cases in the courts, the strength of judges should be raised. The meeting also decided to consider new benches in the five divisions of Punjab — Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan. Another meeting of the body has been called for July 15 to further ponder over the situation. The meeting will continue till July 17.
