Superfluous post

I saw an ad for the post of director general of the civil aviation authority in the August 10, 2024 issue of this paper. This opening looks tailor made to accommodate some senior 21-grade bureaucrat. The CAA has a chequered history of appointing those who lack a background in professional aviation to senior posts.
Moreover, the efficiency of any organization is not measured by the number of senior top-heavy officers but based on their performance and good governance. As a regulator, the CAA has failed to provide proper facilities to travellers. It is time to reassess the manpower of the CAA and stop creation of extravagant and superfluous top posts at the cost of the taxpayers.
