PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has asked all the bar associations in the province to submit audit reports forthwith.
Speaking at the general body meeting, KP Bar Council vice-chairman Sadiq Ali Mohmand said that the bar associations should control their expenses by following an austerity drive and avoid lavish expenditure on unnecessary activities like tour trips and others.
He said that the bar associations must take cognizant steps to keep a check on expenses and saving the funds for the necessary activities.The participants also expressed grave concern over unprecedented price, tax measures, hike in electricity and gas tariffs, saying that the elite should be heavily taxed instead of the poor masses.
The lawyers also called for ending the security protocol to the elite to avoid huge expenses.The meeting decided that a list of the defaulter lawyers would be prepared and then sent to the presidents of respective bar associations and the judges for action. The meeting also offered fateha for the deceased lawyers and prayers for the speedy recovery of ailing lawyers and announced compensation packages for them.
