Governor urges youth to read Iqbal, Khushal Khan poetry
PESHAWAR: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday stressed the youth to read the poetry of national poet Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and famous Pashto poet Khushal Khan Khattak to combat societal ills and work towards improving the country.
Speaking at a conference titled “Thoughts of Khushal Khan Khattak and Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and significance in contemporary era” at the Governor’s House to mark Independence Day.
The governor urged the young people to emulate the spirit of both poets to combat challenges and work for the best future.
The Muslim Institute had arranged the conference.Chairman of the Muslim Institute, Sahibzada Dr Sultan Ahmed Ali, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Member Provincial Assembly Ahmed Karim Kundi, Director of Iqbal Academy Prof Dr Abdul Rafiq Rafiqi, former Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College Peshawar Prof Dr. Noshad, Vice Chancellor of Gandhara University Dr Ijaz Khattak, Director General of the Urdu Promotion Institute Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, former Director of Pashto Academy Dr Salma Shaheen, Chairman of Pashto Academy Islamia College Peshawar Dr Javed Iqbal and Director of National Institute of Pakistan Dr Muhammad Hanif Khalil attended the moot.
The governor noted similarities between the thoughts of Khushal Khan Khattak and Allama Iqbal, highlighting their shared emphasis on self-reliance, hard work and integrity. He encouraged the pursuit of self-respect and independence as a pathway to overcome challenges and achieve goals.
Kundi assured the attendees that the Governor’s House in Peshawar would remain open for seminars and conferences. He expressed his commitment to organize conferences and seminars on various topics and presented commemorative shields to the chairman of the Muslim Institute and other speakers.
Meanwhile, a special jeep rally was held in connection of Independence Day celebrations.The rally held under the auspices of the Frontier 4x4 Club featured approximately 45 jeeps.The governor led the rally by driving a jeep. The participants in the rally waved national flags and chanted “Pakistan Zindabad” as they set off.The rally, led by the governor, traversed various routes including Peshawar Cantonment, Ring Road, Hayatabad, and University Road, before concluding at the Governor’s House.
