LAHORE:The government has failed to enforce the governance despite the provincial government is regularly issuing instructions to ‘strictly’ implement the official rates of the edibles.
The official rates were not implemented across the provincial metropolis on all items ranging from fruits, vegetables, pulses and grains, milk, curd, roti and naan, and beef, mutton and chicken. However, deputy commissioner, and assistant commissioners are busy in the ‘twitter governance’ by posting their performance videos on the social media platforms.
Interestingly, the government officials are well aware of the overcharging patterns and activities of the sellers but unable to take action against the violators. These officials are also the consumers and could not purchase the perishable and edibles at official rates issued by the deputy commissioner’s office. This expose the worst level of the governance in the province as the prices are the everyone everyday issue.
