ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has hinted at summoning the PTI founder to court so that he could consult with his lawyers on pending cases.
It also directed the Registrar’s Office to determine the place of meeting in the court. Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan of the Islamabad High Court said that if the jail authorities failed to convince the court in the next hearing, it would order the PTI founder to appear in the court three times a week so that he could consult with his lawyers.
On Wednesday, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan issued a written order on a request for permission of meetings of lawyers with the PTI founder.
The court issued a notice to all the parties for July 18 and ordered the Adiala jail superintendent to present the record at the next hearing on how many meetings were held with the founder PTI after the court order of February 26 and to what extent the court instructions were followed.
The court said that if the Adiala jail superintendent could not satisfy the court, it would have no other option but to order the PTI founder to be produced in some other place instead of jail where he could consult his lawyers on the pending cases. The court said that the jail authorities should ensure that there was no hindrance to the upcoming meeting of lawyers with the PTI founder. The court also directed the registrar’s office to fix a venue in the court and said that if the jail authorities failed to convince the court, it would order the PTI founder to appear in the Islamabad High Court three times a week.
