Demos for peace staged in Swat
MINGORA: Demonstrations for peace were held in different tehsils of Swat, including Matta, Khwazakhela, and Kabal.A large number of people from across the district participated in the peace rallies. The protesters carried placards, banners, and white flags, all bearing slogans of peace. The demonstrators chanted against the anticipated “Azm-e-Istehkam” Operation.
Leaders of the peace jirga and members of various political parties also took part in the rally. Among the participants were Tehsil Chairman Kabal Saeed Khan, MPA Hameed-ur-Rehman, Aftab Ahmed, Abdul Jabbar Khan, and workers of PTI.
The protesters demanded the government to recognise Swat’s long history of suffering from terrorism, which has claimed thousands of lives. They stated the people of Swat were not prepared for another operation and rejected any form of terrorism. The demonstrators raised the slogan: “Let peaceful Swat remain peaceful.”
