LAHORE: Royal Salute emerged victorious in the prestigious Islamabad Cup held at the Lahore Race Club. The opening race saw an unexpected win by Ubbi, followed by Salaar in an equally surprising second-place finish. Master Prince completed the podium with a third-place finish.
The second race also defied expectations. While Absolutely Not secured a win, it was Abdullah Champion’s third-place finish that surprised the audience, overshadowing the pre-race favourite Luckvir who settled for second place.
The trend continued in the third race, where Elizabeth emerged as the victor, leaving favourite Public Star trailing behind in second. Sehar’s third-place finish added to the day’s air of surprise.
The main event, the Islamabad Cup, saw Royal Salute living up to its favourite status. However, Maxi Macs provided a moment of surprise by snatching the second place from the predicted frontrunner, Olympus, who had to settle for third.
The day concluded with more upsets. Enchanting One dominated the fifth race, while Wynx secured a surprising second-place finish, leaving favourite Shakira in third. In the final race, Yes Commander emerged as the unexpected victor, with Yesteryear taking an impressive second place. The race favourite, Paddington, managed a third-place finish.
