ISLAMABAD: The federal government has declared the performance of independent directors in power distribution companies unsatisfactory and decided to replace them. The federal cabinet will approve the change.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave permission to present the summary for the appointment of new board members of nine out of the eleven government electricity distribution companies in the federal cabinet. However, the prime minister stopped the summary of restructuring the boards of Sepco and Hesco from being presented in the cabinet. According to sources, the names of 4 independent directors have been proposed for Fesco - Imran Zafar as Chairman, Zoi Khurshid Khan, Engineer Parveza Qabal and Umar Farooq Khan.
Five names have been proposed for independent directors of Gepco, including Tahir Masood as Chairman, Imran Zafar, Zoi Khurshid Khan, Ilyas Ahmed, Muhammad Siddique.
Names of Aamir Zia, Zafar Mehmood Zoi, Khurshid Asad Shafi have been proposed for Lesco. According to sources, the name of Amir Zia has been proposed as Independent Director and Chairman for Mepco. Names of Zafar Mahmood, Zoi Khurshid and Asad Shafi have been proposed for directors in MEPCO.
Names of Amir Razia, Syed Ali Murtaza, Amir Mateen, Tahir Masood, Amina Abbas have been suggested for Iesco.
Five names have been proposed for independent directors in QESCO Board - Mahfouz Ali Khan, Rahmatullah Baloch, Tahir Rasheed Roshan, Khurshid and Ahmed Rahman. According to sources, names of new independent directors have also been proposed for Pesco, Tesco and Hezco. Among them are the names of Gulfaraz, Tahir Ali Khan, Fazal Khaliq, Samina Akbar Khattak and Saud Azam.
